Format: Platform

Kirby now has seven
Worlds to conquer...

Dedede's back...

Kirby can now copy
enemies' powers..

And use them with his friends!

Introduction

Kirby, the cute little pink thing, is back in his latest platform outing for Gameboy! In this game, the seven Rainbow drops have been stolen, and it's up to Kirby to find them! Not only that, but Kirby must also retrieve the Rainbow bridges which connect the different parts of Dreamland! King Dedede has stolen them, so it won't be easy to get them back!

Gameplay

Were you disappointed with the amount of levels that were in Kirby's Dream Land? Well, don't worry, because Kirby's Dream Land 2 has 31 levels! That's over 6 times the amount of levels that were in Kirby 1!

Still not impressed? Well, there are now 7 bosses to tackle with, along with finding the 7 rainbow drops. (And let me assure you, finding all the rainbow drops is NOT an easy task.)

Kirby now has obtained the ability to copy his enemies' abilities. For example, if you suck in a spark-like enemy then press down, when you press B, you'll rain sparks everywhere!

But there's more.. Join up with one of your three friends (Kine the fish, Rick the hamster and Coo the owl) and your ability will change! If you ride Coo while you have the spark ability, Kirby will act like a thunderbolt, whereas if you have Kine, Kine will stick out a light bulb and light up dark places. Very sneaky, and very cool.

Kirby's Dream Land 2 also has Super Gameboy support. Stick it in your SGB, and aside from the obvious border and preset color scheme, you'll hear thunderous applause from a crowd on the title screen. Just one of the many little touches that Hal put in the game to make it much more fun than the first.

Final Comments

Kirby's Dream Land 2 is a drastic improvement from Kirby 1. The Super Gameboy Support really helps to make it a fun experience, but you can still enjoy it if you only have a Gameboy Pocket/Regular/Color.

The addition of battery back-up to save your progress is a simple but effective addition, and there are many hidden secrets that make exploring a worthwhile activity.

The addition of Kirby's friends also allows more potential for puzzles, (Coo can fly against strong winds, etc.) and the addition of Kirby being able to copy abilities was pretty obvious (after all, it was in Kirby's Adventure for the NES).

Kirby's Dream Land 2 is great fun if you like the platform series, and the simple addition of battery backup is always welcome in any game. Overall, it's great fun.
