Summary
Gameplay

A racing game just like the old coin-ops. The graphics are somewhat simple but the movement and speed of the car is smooth and fast. This game has 2 options. One that's a practice mode with with you can choose between easy or hard. And competition mode where you race other cars, win money, buy parts at the motor shop, add parts and tune-up your car with your
very own personal mechanic.

You start with a 150th place ranking and must make your way up slowly to become Highway Racing Champion. The racing courses are aplenty so you won't get tired of them. Lanes are also wide so if you're adept, you can overtake or manouver between 2 cars (I like doing this). But unfirtunately, all the cars look somewhat alike. The only difference being that your car is red and the opponent's blue.

Oh! another thing, in the competition mode, you also have 2 choices of starting with either 1,500 credits of money or 2,500.

Racing is simple. Accelerate with the A button and change from a low to high gear with the directional keys (up and down). Hmmm... guess it's an automatic car only. You are also given the use of turbo but only limited use unfirtunately so save that for the final leg when you need to speed past your opponent and make an impressive finish.

Verdict Good racing game. But playing the competition mode requires some knowledge of Japanese or Katana Characters or else you wouldn't know which car parts you are buying or how to tell the mechanic what to do. Still, if like me, you are willing to play by trial and error, you can do it. Guess it's more challenging this way, isn't it?
