Summary
Gameplay
bust a moveAn excellent arcade port-over. Even the music used is exactly the same. And an easy to pick-up and master puzzle game where you are required to shoot bubbles of the same "color", put 3 or more together and watch them pop.

Complete the entire screen and move on to the next stage till you reach the top of the inverted pyramid. Why inverted? Because everyone starts at point A then after which you'll have multiple paths to choose from.

Each stage different, but takes you to the top where you will see different screen endings just like in the arcades. Play on your own or choose to go at it with the computer. 3 modes to select from, practice, normal and hard. But if you choose the latter and if the computer player accumulates enough balls which he has popped, you get it on your screen, making it a little more difficult for you.

The little monster rascals that control your arrows are fun to watch too. They get excited and jump when your bubbles move closer downward, jump with excitement when you win and cry buckets if you lose. This great game just takes seconds to learn and will provide you with hours of enjoyment.
Verdict Personally, I had to have it when I first saw it on a GameBoy cart. Wow! I thought. Finally, I can save money by going to the arcade. Incidentally, being a lousy punch-and-kick kind of gamer, this is one game with which my tokens can last the longest.

Anyway, I played it for about half an hour before I found that as the stages progress and as they require more "colored" bubbles, I was lost. I couldn't figure which "color" was which.

Sure, they were in various shades of gray, with some bubbles having stars in them and some others with triangles just so you could differentiate which was which. But imagine having to look so closely at the next ball, trying to remember (in my mind) "okay... light gray bubble with flashing star" and at the same time trying to navigate the arrows to certain angles on a small GameBoy screen, this game just proved too much for me. Afterall, what was supposed to be a relaxing game turned out to really be an eye strain.

So back to the arcades it was, if I wanted a shot at Puzzle Bobble - it's other name.
